"Elves: Loveable or Not?" a poll.

I recently got into a discussion with someone about elves (don't ask who or how).
The question was raised: Everyone loves elves... don't they?

So I thought I'd get to the bottom of this asap, before I lose too many night's sleep over it.

So please.
Enlighten me with your opinions on elves.

it depends on who the elves are.

I'd have to agree with Maria on this one, I mean there are, really, good elves and bad elves, are there not? And then there are the elves that just make you want to punch 'em, real good.

So basically, liking elves is relative [just like distance and time and mass]

Alright then, let's discuss species shall we?
First of all, there's your typical christmas elf. You know, the ones who are stuck in the northern hemisphere making toys all year round.

Then there's the helpful species... the type that usually scamper around workshops in the dead of night, completing the odious, unfinished tasks of the everyday working-class hero.

Then you have your tolkien-esque elves, who are a different brand all together. lithe, elegant, magical... *sigh* (p.s. Haldir is definetly one of my fave lotr characters.)

And Nadine, I'm not entirely sure WHAT you're thinking, but I don't know any bad elves! That's a definite oxymoron in my books.

You forgot the story of the Elves and the Shoemaker. Those were definately good elves. I can't seem to think of any bad ones either.

Maria, darling. Darling Maria.
Kindly re-read the second paragraph of my elf species analysis.
Though I don't directly reference shoe-makers, you'll notice that it's a generic description of the exact elf species you are speaking of.

But you have glasses!

I wasn't wearing them? And I have a tendancy to skim read - don't forget that excuse either.

How did we get started on elves?

Well, you see, one day you did something for me, and I said you were helpful, much like an elf.
You weren't sure how to take this, and I said like a compliment duh, everyone loves elves.
But then I proceeded to question myself... Does everyone, indeed, love elves?
And I needed an excuse to blog so I could fuel my horrible addiction. And thus I blogged about it.

The End.

Bravo! Encore, encore!

I retold the story of the three little pigs and the big bad wolf last night, without the aide of a book - it was an interesting rendition.

*sigh* Only you, Maria. Only you.

p.s. I am inclined to pose another question: How many times a week would you say I say that to you?
